I've found the perfect summer clutch! And another Maxi dress!

I have been so busy getting my condo organized that I haven't had any time to post. I did manage to make a brief stop at the mall during the week and found a perfect clutch for summer - which was on sale - and one more glamour gown! 

I got this gorgeous Nine West clutch on sale with some scouting around the mall while I was waiting for my dad's birthday present to be finished! 

It was full price in one store and then in the Nine West store it was marked down and further discounted! I saved over $40! 

I also got this gown which I was totally obsessed with! 

This dress is so comfortable and looks like I'm all dressed up! I have a few maxi dresses in my closet now and I couldn't be happier about it! 

What is your favourite colour for a maxi dress? 

Cinderella needs a Ball for her new Gown!

I don't have a ball to go to but I did cave and buy this gown! 

The best part? It was reduced and then on sale! I got this gorgeous silk gown for less than half price! 

I also bought this more casual maxi dress or "gown" as I like to call them which is perfect for a nice night on a patio. 

Toronto is under extremely hot weather right now, and I bought this to beat the heat! 

Yes I do realize that these dresses look almost identical, however, one is obviously far more formal, and the other casual. I love maxi dresses and am really hung up on teal right now! 

I'm looking forward to wearing this one this weekend! 

Moving is Exhausting!

I've been totally consumed with work and school this week, and of course unpacking, building furniture, organizing, re-organizing and cleaning. 

Moving is so so much work! I love all of the furniture that I bought for the condo - now I just have to paint it! 

Oh wait, the girl that live here before me was a complete slob!! And I don't think she ever EVER cleaned her fridge, because it took me and half a bottle of scrub free + bleach, + soap and water and rubber gloves to my elbows two hours last weekend to clean the fridge alone! And she left rotting food in the fridge.... how she's still alive I have no idea! 

So far I have built one of the Ikea dresser's that I bought, with help from three friends and it's all in one piece - except for one drawer that doesn't want to slide properly! 

So this chest of drawers is sitting in the middle of my bedroom empty.... because I cannot figure out where I am going to put it... I still have to play tetris with my furniture! 

Since I have so many clothes, I have purchased several organizational tools as well as a second dresser. This might cramp my bedroom, but what else is my room for except sleeping and storing my clothes? I'd rather have my clothes than floor space! 

I've stayed up super later after work and school this week trying to get even further organizing and slowly but surely it is getting there. 

I will say this, condo kitchens are not designed for cooking and baking... I hardly have room for most of my appliances, and my mom sent me a gravy boat LOL what on earth I'm going to do with a gravy boat in 100+ degree weather I have no idea.... but I don't have to heart to tell her that. 

Today's the Day!

Today I'm moving downtown Toronto, within walking distance of the CN Tower! 

It's going to be a really big adjustment to get back into the rhythm of condo living, and this time in a massive condo building. 

The last place I lived at that wasn't at home was only 4 stories high! 

I'm excited and nervous and everything in between! I think change is an important part of life, and I'm looking forward to this change. It's going to affect many aspects of my life, and I'm excited about it! 

Charlize Theron: With a Shaved Head??

I was just reading that Charlize Theron has shaved her head for her role in the film Mad Max .... she's joined the ranks of Demi Moore - bald and beautiful!

I'm not sure that I am passionate enough about anything to ever want to shave my head.... is there anything that would motivate you to shave your head?

Jennifer Anniston in Hammer Pants???

This caught my attention in the Huffington Post - Jennifer Anniston strolling through the airport in what can only be described as hammer pants???

That got me thinking who else has been wearing hammer pants in hollywood.... 

Apparently J Lo was wearing some gold sparkly hammer pants not too long ago... I know that J Lo can pull of pretty much everything, but this is over the top! even for her!! 

And then of course Kim Kardashian pulled on a pair of hammer pants at some point..... 

Hammer Pants are signature to MC Hammer, and I really do not believe that anyone else could pull them off! 

Who can compete with this?? He kills it in the hammer pants! 

Do you own a pair of hammer pants? Have you ever worn hammer pants? I haven't but I am wondering if they are awkward to walk in??

Home Sense & Bouclair Beauties!

The other day on my lunch with a friend we ventured into Home Sense - at my request of course, to see if I could find a floor lamp. Of course there was not a single floor lamp in the store, not one! There were several the other week when I went - but I was not looking for lamps at that point. 

Naturally I found other items that I just had to bring home with me! 

If you follow my blog you may have seen the "keep calm and add sugar" and tea containers that I bought a couple of weeks ago - at the same Home Sense! This week I found two of these mugs, because sometimes I like things to match! 

And I also got this adorable teapot for when friends come over, or in the winter when it gets chilly! 

Now I have a whole keep calm tea set! I didn't think tea could get any more soothing until I saw this teapot! What a find! 

I also got this really funky necklace tree to go with my zebra theme! I already have a necklace tree but it is so over crowded that another one will not go wrong. 

Lastly I found this amazing little shoe ring holder that I absolutely cannot live without! 

I apologize for the less than stellar photos, my room is a moving mess and I am not revealing that to anyone! 

After work I made a stop in at Bouclair to look for floor lamps. I had found a really nice one that I liked online at home depot of all places! Home Depot was recommended by another friend for accent pieces, I was shocked at all of the nice decor pieces that they have! I always keep them in mind for buying paint or fix-it items, but not fancy lamps! 

I bought this lamp to go in my living room! The jewels are detachable so if I ever tire of them I can take them off and just have a plain lamp. This one I got from Bouclair and it was half the price of the one at home depot! 

I also bought two of these purple jewel pillows for my bed. I want to paint my bedroom grey and have purple accents. This was the perfect shade of purple for me so I decided to buy them so that I can pick out a grey shade of paint that will work well with them. 

What colour do I paint the bathroom???

I don't know what colour to paint my future bathroom! I do want to paint it a colour, and something that will go with the overall colour scheme of the condo, but I just do not know what colour that should be! 

If you recall I have purchased this sequin shower curtain: 

And the matching bath mat. 


Will someone please remind me to add shower hooks to the list of things that I'm going to need? 

I also purchased and love these Kate Spade bath towels: 

Of course towels are temporary, but painting my bathroom purple would be out of the question! 

Now what do I do? Just paint the bathroom a similar shade of grey to the curtain? It isn't a very large bathroom but I do want to break up the monochromatic feeling with a bold colour statement - are the pink towels enough to do that? 

Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Please help! What colour should I paint the bathroom??? 


Shopping for all of this stuff at once is exhausting!!

Decorating Inspirations

As I get closer to moving the list of what I still need to get is getting smaller, but the boxes are piling up! There are still a lot of things that I still want to have organized for when I move in, and others that can wait. 

Here are some things I have seen out during my shopping trips that I want or am thinking of getting, I would love your comments! 

Zebra print rug! I'm not 100% sure whether or not I want a Zebra print rug or a solid colour shag rug. If you have seen the buckwheat sofa I ordered and can visualize the black chaise lounge with grey walls, what colour of shag rug do you think would look best? Or maybe Zebra will break up the monochromatic theme? 

In a previous post I showed a picture of a different zebra rug. The picture above I took while furniture shopping with a friend last week. I like the pattern of this rug far better than I do the first one which I found online. 

I saw this mirror, a full length which is absolutely huge and black faux leather. I really want it - I just have to make sure that I have the room to put it somewhere in my bedroom! 

I saw these really nice wine glasses on sale at pier one. They are great because each pattern is different so you can tell which glass is yours! I am not going to get wine or martini glasses until after I move in - just in case they get shuffled around in the move! I also am not sure what style I like best, but I am leaning toward zebra print martini glasses! 


I went to Canadian Tire today to get a black & decker rice cooker which was on sale - these things are amazing! It lets you multi task while cooking. You can do five other things without having to worry about stirring the rice! 

While I was in the store I also this beauty! I didn't buy it yet because I can probably live without it for a little while but I really want one! 

Somehow the pink brita will just make water THAT much tastier! 

This general purpose service tray is a must buy! It's from home outfitters, and as soon as I am set up for entertaining I will get a tray very similar to this one, if not the exact one. 

I also found Zebra martini glasses at target! I think a trip state side might be in order before or shortly after I move! 

Any suggestions on where else I can look for Zebra print wine or martini glasses? 

I ordered my Sofa!! And a Chaise!!

I'm so excited! I ordered my sofa and a chaise today! I took my mom with me just to give myself piece of mind that I'm buying good furniture and I put the orders in! 

So this is what I got! The Lauren Sofa from Bowring!! I ordered the cashmere fabric in the "buckwheat" colour! 

This sofa is absolutely elegant, luxurious and is made to order right here in Canada! I'm all for supporting the North American economy and the frame of this sofa is Canadian maple!


I also ordered this chaise in a solid black - I'm NOT a fan of floral! 

It is really comfortable! It's going to take about 6 weeks for it to be made. My sofa takes about 4-6 weeks, but could be ready earlier *cross your fingers*!! I'm going to be painting and getting my room ready first and then the living room. 

I also have the ottoman with trays that will function as a coffee table: 

Since my chair and ottoman are black, rather than going with a black rug and drapes I'm probably going to get a grey shag rug and matching shade drapes. 

I also need to get a standing lamp, but I'm going to get a white shaded lamp to get the most light. 

I haven't found a standing lamp yet and I also need accent pillows and a throw. I'm torn between whether or not I want to get Zebra print pillows and a throw or a solid dark purple.... decisions decisions.... 

Are there any suggestions out there? Zebra print or purple?? 

I could keep the purple for my bedroom and have the zebra in the living room... or just keep the zebra print to kitchen accents like the tray that I bought and some zebra print wine glasses!
